The Blacksmith Inn, located at 12596 Winterstown
Road (Rt. 24), just south of Rt. 216, will be the local gathering site for motorcycle and
history enthusiasts.
The first meeting of the motorcycle club, which will be named at the
meeting, will be held on Tuesday, July 6, at 7:00 PM. Those who are interested in having
dinner before the meeting should plan on arriving at 6:00 PM. The club is being formed by
a group of bikers, over age 40, who are looking to form new friendships among a core of
local riders. Younger, mature riders are invited to attend as well. The agenda for the
first meeting will include the selection of a name for the club, the election of officers,
and a discussion of convenient riding days and times. Weather permitting, the group will
ride together for the first time following the business meeting.
Local history buffs will also be meeting at The Blacksmith Inn starting
Thursday, July 8, at 7:00 PM. Anyone who has an interest in the history of Stewartstown,
Winterstown, or Red Lion is invited to attend. Dinner will be available at 6:00 PM,
followed by a sharing of local history, including photographs, at 7:00 PM.
The Blacksmith Inn, owned by John and Patti Molinar, and Mike and Nancy
Molinar, is a fitting place for local history buffs to meet. The building dates to the
1800s. The current structure was built in the late 1800s following an extensive fire. The
Blacksmith Inns current kitchen was constructed above what was once a
blacksmiths hearth (hence the name The Blacksmith Inn).
At various times, the building was owned by the Roseman and Strayer
families, and has been a carriage shop, the Winterstown Deli & Quick Stop, and the
former home of Joes Cafe. The floor of the Inn was once part of the Red Lion
Community Center roller rink.
Owners John, and brother Mike, Molinar are originally from Buffalo, New
York. Johns wife, Patti, is originally from Baltimore, and Mikes wife Nancy is
originally from Hagerstown, Maryland. John and Patti have 3 children, and Mike and Nancy
have 4 children. The Molinars purchased the property in September, 1995, and opened for
business in September, 1998.
The Blacksmith Inn offers American-Italian cuisine at an attractive
price in a friendly, clean setting. The art displayed at The Blacksmith Inn is quite
interesting as well. Artist Gordon Callison has the unique ability to draw aerial-view
sketches of local landmarks from photographs taken on the ground. The art, combined with
excellent food and friendly service, make The Blacksmith Inn one of the popular hangouts
of local residents.
Hours of operation are: Monday thru Thursday- 5:30 AM to 8:00 PM, Friday- 5:30 AM to
9:00 PM, Saturday - 7:30 AM to 9:00 PM, and Sunday - 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The phone number,
