Stewartstown Lions, Scouts, and Cubs Hold Joint Dinner
Meeting
Twenty members of Boy Scout Troop 27 and 20 area Cub Scouts shared
hamburgers, hot dogs, and fruit cups with 38 members of the Stewartstown Lions Club at
their annual get-together June 2 at the Hopewell Fish and Game Club facility, one mile
south of Stewartstown.
Lion President Jerry McDonald turned the meeting over to Lion Mike
Grissinger, who serves as Scout Liaison officer, in addition to his other service related
to Camporees and on the camping staff at Camp Tuckaho.
Lion Mike introduced Scout leaders Keith Baughman and Duane Hyson, who
described the 10-day "High Adventure Trip" that sixteen members and leaders of
Troop 27 recently experienced in the Allagash Wilderness area of northwestern Maine.
In attendance was John Dolheimer, District Executive for the
Mason-Dixon Scout District. Mr. Dolheimer reviewed the close ties that the Stewartstown
Lions and Scout Troop 27 have enjoyed for almost sixty years.
Scout Sean Baughman then gave details of progress on his Eagle Scout
project to re-side the Scout house.
In the board meeting following the general meeting, the Lions Club
voted to defray a part of the cost of materials for the Eagle Scout re-siding project. It
also approved a donation to the Mason-Dixon Library to purchase 40 state-reference books
and a set of shelves.
