Stewartstown United Methodist Church welcoms DR. G. Edwin Zeiders, Jr.

Stewartstown United Methodist Church, 26 S. Main St, would like to announce that Rev. Dr. G. Edwin Zeiders, Jr. will be preaching at SUMC on June 9th , at the 8:30 and 11:00 AM services.

Rev. Zeider’s current position is President and Chief Executive Officer, United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio. He was Senior Pastor at Stewartstown United Methodist Church from 1978-1987 and District Superintendent, Central PA Conference, UMC from 1987-1995. Over the years, he has maintained a strong commitment to learning, leadership development, and congregational vitalization.

Stewartstown United Methodist Church is looking forward to having Rev. Zeiders preach at the services and also invites the public to attend as well.

Glen Rock Jaycees - Car Show, Craft Show, & Flea Market

The Glen Rock Jaycees are sponsoring The 27th Annual Antique, Classic, and Custom Car Show on Sunday, June 9th at Glen Rock Park on Hanover St. in Glen Rock, PA. The rain date is June 16. Admission for adults is $3.00, 12 years and under free. Registration opens at 10:00 AM with the show running from noon until 4:00 PM. Laser engraved wood dash plaques will be given to the first 225 vehicles registered. All vehicles pre-registered prior to the day of the show will be charged $8.00 for the first vehicle and $4.00 for each additional vehicle. Registration the day of show will be $10.00 for the first vehicle and $5.00 for each additional vehicle. Helicopter rides, food, music, and door prizes will be available throughout the day.

Classes will include Pre-War thru 1945, Post-War 1946 - 1959, Classic 1960 - 1969, Classic 1970 - 1987, Special Interest, Custom, Street Rod Pre-1948, Street Machine, 1955-57 Chevy, Corvette, Trucks, and Import. Trophies will be awarded to 1st, 2 nd, and 3rd place in each class; one for Best Club Attendance, one for Best Appearing Street Rod, one for The People’s Choice, and one for overall Best of Show.

In conjunction with the Car Show is the Craft Show and Flea Market, which will run from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM. Cost to reserve a 10' x 10' space is $15.00. Setup begins at 8:00 AM.

THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS DONATED TO CHARITIES

The United Methodist women at Trinity United Methodist Church, in New Freedom, Pa., donated to fifteen charities and missions in the year 2002. These missions and charities were local, national and international in scope.

A total amount of seven thousand, eight hundred dollars was awarded as part of the mission’s mandate as United Methodist women.

The annual bazaar and candy making projects, involving the entire church, allow this annual distribution of monies, in order to help those in need. All women in the community are invited to join in the missions.

Citizens Volunteer Fire Co. to hold 5th Annual Car and Truck Show

Citizens Volunteer Fire Co. will hold their 5th Annual Car and Truck Show on June 8, 2002. The registration will be from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Dash plaques will be given to the first 150 vehicles entered. Entry fee will be $7.00. Door prizes will be awarded throughout the day with trophies presented at 4:00 PM.

The show includes a craft and flea market, as well as lots of good food. Show visitors will enjoy the musical entertainment provided by DJ Frankie Z, "King of the Oldies."
